Eating Like a Hippy Empty Re: Eating Like a Hippy

Post  CJB Thu Dec 03, 2009 9:36 am

Yesterday i was told, more like accused as if I was a baby killer, that i eat like a hippy...I had no witty response, no angry comeback. Just the sad acceptance that eating things that are real and green is seen as weird and is relegated to something only uber-liberal, dope smoking, 1970 wannabes do. As i watched my accuser eat his "healthy" heaping bowl of pasta with a cream based sauce with a side of oreos I just laughed knowing he'll die about 10 years earlier than me from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, or some other form of aviodable disease and live a life ridden with disease, sedentary patterns and misery.
sucker. i am my fucking salad.

I catch crap everyday for the way I eat. Hell, my boss asks me if I counted my peanuts today yet.

I'm ok with it. Why? Because the way I eat has moved me closer to ninja status then them. Suspect

CJ, You are not a hippy. You are something else that starts with a H. farao

Funny that this post came up today. I've been hearing a lot of the same. My co-worker asked me if I was trying to start an apple orchard at my desk. Another wondered why I was eating bird seed (fitness mix) with my lunch.

Btw, 5 days in on strict paleo and I feel great, but I'm much more tired in the mornings and am having a harder time waking up. Not sure what is going on there but I'm going to try having a snack later in the evening. Right now my last meal is dinner. 5

This happened to me this morning as well...at a breakfast meeting at the Marriott I ordered an egg white omlette with mushrooms and cheese and a side of fruit...when I got it the omlette was gigantic, it came with home fries and toast...even the fruit came with extra granola. I then proceeded to cut the omlette in half, remove the bread, home fries, granola and banana from my plate...and give it to my co-worker who had been laughing at my order in the first place. Let him be fat.

Roommate: You're measuring your food again?
Andrew: I'm really bored.

Dan, snack a few hours after dinner is a good idea, if only to keep your metabolism up while you sleep. Something under zone guidelines: carbs w/ a low glycemic load, bit of protein, fat. It might keep you from waking up crashed.

Cj,

Tell him he's just mad because he eats like an insulin resistant human waste who has miles of useless vascularity and maybe he should get the chip off of his shoulder since you can see your penis and he's clearly jealous because his has been missing for years.

Dan,

Please see me at the gym asap, we need to talk and get you on the right track. I can name couple reasons that this is happening and its not supposed to be. I don't want to see you damage yourself and or end up discouraged because you get hurt more or stuck in a plateau when you are just weeks into this adventure. I can't stand to see you making the mistakes you are because you are overloaded on information or you simply have some bad stigmas about how to eat. Please for your own sake see me in the gym so we can talk.

isnt it funny how people start to care when you eat healthy. Its like you joined a cult. People think your weird, start jokes, etc. But this is good, because the people that really care about you, dont give a shit. I've showed up to lunch with my good friends with a weighed out meat and some nuts, they dont care. Sadly, at the age of 20, ive found that my only hobby is crossfit now. To be better at my hobby, i have to eat better. To be better at my hobby, I have to live healthier. Its a great hobby because there is no pinnacle, no final thruster that ends it all. It continues, with or without you. I'm gonna ride it as long as my skinny ass can, one cashew at a time.
